Monastery of Weltenburg

Enjoy a fascinating view of one the most beautiful river landscapes in Germany on your boat trip to the Monastery of Weltenburg, one of the oldest in Bavaria (from 620 AD). Learn about the monastery's eventful history and see the amazing baroque church that the famous Asam brothers built there between 1716-18.

Award-winning beer

One of the highlights in Weltenburg is relaxing in the shady beer garden with an award-winning beer from the world's oldest monastery brewery. Hear about the history and culture of a place that has been a preferred spot for settlements for thousands of years.
On the weekends we can additionally arrange a guided tour in the Weltenburg brewery including a beer tasting, souvenir-glas and film in the visitors' center. Please ask for times and prices.

Liberation Hall

Visit the "Liberation Hall" in Kelheim, a stunning memorial that reminds of the early 19th century Liberation Wars against Napoleon.

Danube Gorge

Walhalla

Built by King Ludwig I of Bavaria

The Doric marble temple Walhalla high above the Danube was built by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in honor of famous members of the German-speaking world. The Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens served as a role model for the temple on a hillside overlooking the Danube valley.

Famous men and women

Today it is home to more than one hundert busts of famous men and women. Get to know the eclectic circle of personalites and listen to the life stories of Albert Einstein or Catherine II, Empress of Russia. Boat trip to Walhalla

Situated in Donaustauf, just about 10 km down the Danube from Regensburg, the Walhalla can be reached by boat or by car. We gladly arrange the boat trip or coach transfer on request.

Hike along the "Alpine Trail"

The "Alpine Trail" meanders through sunny slopes of junpertrees. Learn about rural farm life during the hike and listen to the story of the infamous knights of Loch Castle. Down in the Valley, discover the fascinating history of early medieval iron production at numerous mills along the river and learn how this is connected with the art of brewing beer.

Bycicle tour
